I went to a Reid Genauer concert on Saturday night. One of the best shows I've seen in a long time. He has an amazing voice and is a great songwriter in the traditions of Robert Hunter and Wilie Nelson, among others.If you get the chance you should check him. Reid used to be the lead singer for Strangefolk who were a grear jam band but aren't as good any more. His new band puts on quite a show, though.

Were you as disturbed by the government's drug war commericials during the Super Bowl as I was? Do something about it: Write President Bush and let him know your mind.
(FYI: Super Bowl Sunday has the highest rate of domestic abuse [read: wife beating] of any day in the year. Given the combination of hyper-masculinity, militarism, commercialism, and alcohol, is it any surprise? I think its high time we redifined a less violent masculinity and ended violence against women.

The latest news in my life is that I was elected to be a delegate to the Massachusetts Democratic Convention is summer. I'm supporting Robert Reich, a professor of mine who's a brilliant political economist and so progressive it makes your teeth hurt.
The delegate system is a crazy mess where a candidate needs 15% of the delegates at the state convention in order to be on the primary ballot. Reich is going up against entrenched state machines, so the 15% is his biggest obstacle. If you're from Massachusetts, and either a minority or under 35, you can be an add-on delegate with full voting rights. Get the form here: Robert Reich for Governor!

Well, inspired by my old roommate Matthew Sheren and my narcissistic desire to post my thoughts where other people can see them, I've decided to start my own blog. It'll take a while to get up to full speed, so keep checking back.
